Spanish Dancer Photo
I love the photos that are sent to me by Zaid Fadul.
This is one of the most beautiful Nudibranches I’ve ever seen photographed.
Here’s what Zaid says about it:
Spanish Dancers are gigantic nudibranchs, or molluscs. They are about a foot in length and can reach almost 2 feet. They get their name from when they swim. They flap their edges and undulate through the water. The flapping resembles the bottom of a flamenco dress as it twirls. The other really cool part about this is the white and red cauliflower looking structures sticking out from one end. These are the gills of the animal. Spanish Dancers feed on sponges and usually only come out to feed at night. They are a real treat to spot on a night dive
