Derek Heasley of Scubabreaks.com describes the Scuba Diving Cameras he has used, along with the Canon EOS 300D Digitial Rebel and some beautiful photos. He has one many “Photo of the Week” competitions with DigiDeep.com and has one of his photos featured on the front cover of Sub Sea Dive Magazine.

“My current setup is a Canon SLR 300D with twin inon strobes.

I use for macro shots a sigma 105mm lens. For wide angle I have the Canon EF-S 10-22mm. I use a 15mm fisheye prime lens and a standard kit lens EF-S 18-55mm.

Its all about perfecting an image over the last one you took and being in the right place at the right time.

I believe that better image results will come with experience. Not because equipment gets better. But from my experience of using different cameras underwater I would certainly say that results from a digital SLR seem vastly improved than standard consumer cameras (because of the type of camera slr is). That would be my preference anyhow.”
