Shark Photography Tips

Friday, March 10th, 2006

Mike Veitch at Wet Pixel has some great tips for taking good photos of Sharks

He starts off his article ….

“Underwater photographers dream of creating powerful shark images. But doing so is no easy task. Contrary to what the media would have us believe, sharks are not ever-present predators lurking beneath the surface waiting to catch unsuspecting humans. As experienced divers know, not only is it difficult to get close to sharks, many divers go for years without seeing one at all.

If you are lucky enough to encounter sharks on your next diving adventure, here are some tips to help you capture stunning images.”

Using Two Strobes Underwater

Wednesday, January 11th, 2006

I belong to an Underwater Photography Yahoo group, who’s owner is Zaid Fadul. Zaid frequently posts photos that he’s taken while Scuba Diving and also posts a description or something interesting about the marine animal in the photo. His photos are magnificent and I’ve obtained permission to post them on my website, provided I plug Zaid’s Yahoo group. See the subscribe box below. Zaid says this about his yahoo group…

“I am interested in building this list to encompass as many people as possible. I think it important for people to learn about the oceans and see what is out there. There are so few people who dive it is really a shame the vast majoprity of the world is missing out.”

Here’s an Underwater Photography tip written by Zaid, and a magnificent shot of the Ocean White tip shark. Zaid explains (and shows in the photo) how 2 strobes can be used.
