Canon have an Underwater Photography Guide which shows reasons for using a digital camera over a film camera, Marine Techniques, Pre-Dive Preparations, Understanding White Balance, taking Macro Shots and Wide Angle Shots, Panorama Shots about Movies, Maintenance on the Boat and Post-Dive Maintenance.
The guide also has tips for Viewing and Sharing Images with Friends, Basic Retouching Techniques for Better Images and a Canon Water Proof Case Line-up.

A waterproof casing has been made for a mobile phone. It’s called a Wave Case and allows for the phone to be taken down to a depth of 4 metres. So, it’s for snorkelling and other water sports.
However, they could also make one for Scuba Diving. For now, people are using their phones to take photos while in the water.
WAVECASE is suitable for use with many different mobile phone models. Depending on type, all mobile phones can be used which do not exceed the following dimensions:
Height 110 mm / width 55 mm / depth 22 mm.

The Sony Cybershot DSCW7 has 6.4 Megapixels, can take 137 images. The size of the LCD screen is 6.4 cm, it has an optimal zoom of 3x, with a battery life of approximately 300-400 shots. The Sony Underwater Casing is rated to 40 meters.
